At our Family Home Unit in Centrum, you will find a meaningful and developmental job where you can truly influence the lives of children and young people for the better. We are now looking for more Child Welfare Officers (Barnsekreterare) who want to contribute to maintaining high quality in our operations for our placed children and young people.

What does the job entail?

As a Child Welfare Officer with us, you work with follow-up care and interventions according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Law on Care of Young Persons (LVU) for our placed children and young people aged 0–21. In your work, you ensure that the care is legally secure and that the children have the same opportunities for development as other children. Through regular and active contact with the children, you ensure that their voices are heard in decisions that affect their lives. You also collaborate with the children's networks, schools, and other professional actors, both within and outside the organization.

Here, you work as a Child Welfare Officer side by side with our Family Home Secretaries. Close collaboration with the family home secretaries is a central part of the role. We value this collaboration highly and allocate time for structured cooperation. The unit also has two School-Family teams, which makes cooperation on school matters regarding children placed in family homes both simple and efficient. Within the department, there is a resource unit with which you collaborate closely regarding various interventions for our children and families.

We have a clear structure and use BBIC (Barns Behov i Centrum) as the foundation of our work. Currently, we are focusing on implementing Signs of Safety and placing great emphasis on involving children and young people in our contact with them. We offer education and supervision to strengthen you in your work and ensure that we work together towards the same goals.

To give you the best possible conditions from the start, we have an introductory responsible social secretary who supports new employees in their daily work. You will also receive regular supervision and opportunities for competence development.

The unit is led by two unit managers and a total of seven senior social secretaries.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work. You need to have experience working within social services with children and young people, as well as experience in authority exercises within social services. You are well-versed in the legislation regarding SoL and LVU and have preferably worked with BBIC. We also see that you have a good ability to investigate, document, and follow up on interventions.

You have good computer skills and master the Swedish language in speech and writing. We consider it an advantage if you have knowledge within Signs of Safety as well as knowledge/experience of Treserva.

The position requires that you have a B driving license and driving experience.

As a Child Welfare Officer, one must be genuinely interested in meeting children at the level they are at and following their development. We therefore wish that you have a strong commitment to children in social care, with a clear child perspective.

As a person, you are good at collaborating and thrive in a team, while also having the ability to work independently, drive processes, and make your own decisions. You are confident in yourself and in your role. Your communicative skills mean that you meet people with respect and handle even difficult conversations in a professional manner. You have a solution-oriented and positive attitude, and you value collaboration to create the best support for each individual.

To succeed in the role, you need to be able to structure and prioritize your work well. You balance meetings with our residents, documentation, and collaboration in a way that contributes to quality in the operations.

We in the Social Services Administration Centrum work every day to ensure that residents in central Gothenburg get a better everyday life. Our assignments within the social sector are numerous and range from authority exercises to promoting and preventive interventions. We work locally but also have operations that target the whole city to meet the needs of our residents.
